Handyman rates in Singapore

QUICK ANSWER

Handyman rates in Singapore depend on the job, the number of items and the wall or fixture the work involves. The table below groups the rates handyman companies on HomezyPro publish on their own websites by job, with the lowest, middle and highest published figure and a link to each source. Use it to see what a common job is advertised at, then send a list of your jobs for a written quote.

On HomezyPro, the lowest published home painting rates from 6 companies run from S$50 to S$250 per job (middle rate S$150), for anything from one wall to a whole flat, so check what each price covers, and the lowest published door and lock rates from 4 companies run from S$50 to S$120 per job (middle rate S$60), for one door or lock. Each figure is one company's own advertised rate with its conditions, not a quote.

What do handyman jobs cost? Published rates by job

Each company counts once per job, with its lowest published rate for that job, linked to its source; no figure is a quote. Lowest, middle and highest use the most common unit, and only when at least 3 companies publish it; when an even number of companies publish a rate and the two middle rates differ, no middle is shown.

How do handyman companies price their work?

Handyman work is priced in several ways, and the basis matters more than the headline figure. Many companies price common jobs individually: one lock replaced, one TV mounted, one wardrobe assembled or one curtain track fitted. Some charge by the hour with a minimum, and a few publish a call-out or minimum visit charge that applies however small the job. Painting is often priced per room, per wall or as a package for a flat size.

A published rate is usually a starting price for a standard version of the job. It may assume a solid wall, a standard bracket or lockset, an item of normal size and easy access. Larger items, unusual walls, extra parts and awkward positions can raise the price, so read the conditions printed beside each rate.

Per hourTime on site for a list of small jobsMinimum hours and travel time
Per room or wallPainting areaPreparation, paint and number of coats

What changes a handyman quote?

These are the factors that most often move a quote away from the advertised starting rate:

  • The number of items. Several small jobs in one visit can cost less per job than separate bookings, because travel and the minimum charge are shared.
  • The wall or ceiling. Concrete, hollow board, tiles and false ceilings need different fixings, and some walls cannot hold heavy items.
  • The size and weight of the item. A large TV, a tall wardrobe or a heavy mirror takes more time and more secure fixings than a small shelf.
  • Parts and materials. Locks, brackets, tracks, paint and fixings may be included, supplied by you or charged separately.
  • Preparation and finishing. Painting prices depend heavily on wall repair and preparation; mounting may include hiding cables or not.
  • Access and building rules. HDB and condo renovation hours, lift booking and parking can limit when noisy work such as drilling can be done.

Which jobs need someone other than a handyman?

A handyman can take on many small repairs and installations, but some work needs a licensed or specialist professional. Electrical installation work needs an electrical worker licensed by EMA, some plumbing work needs a PUB-licensed plumber, and window work in HDB flats and many condos needs an approved window contractor. If a quote includes this kind of work, ask who will carry it out. The handyman guide explains where the line usually falls.

Bundle small jobs to compare like with like

The simplest way to get a useful quote is a numbered list. For each job, give the item, its size or model, the wall it goes on, a photo and whether you are supplying the part. Ask for a price per line plus any visit charge, so you can see what each job costs and what is shared.

  • Ask whether the price includes fixings, brackets and wall plugs.
  • Check whether drilling into tiles, concrete or a false ceiling costs extra.
  • Confirm whether removing an old item and taking away packaging is included.
  • For painting, ask which paint, how many coats and what preparation is included.
  • Ask whether the company guarantees the work and for how long.
  • Note whether GST is included where it applies, since many published rates do not say.

For specific jobs, the TV mounting guide, furniture assembly guide, door lock guide, curtain installation guide and painting guide cover what to share and what to ask.

Hourly rates or fixed prices?

An hourly rate suits a list of small, uncertain jobs where the time is hard to predict. A fixed price suits a defined job, such as assembling a named wardrobe or mounting a TV on a concrete wall. If a company quotes by the hour, ask for an estimate of the hours and whether travel time counts. If it quotes a fixed price, ask what would make it change. The blog post on hourly and fixed prices sets out the trade-offs.

How HomezyPro collects these figures

Every figure on this page is one company's own published rate, taken from its website with the link and the conditions it printed. HomezyPro does not survey what homeowners paid and does not calculate a market price. Each company counts once per job, with its lowest matching published rate, and a range is only shown when at least three companies publish a comparable rate in the same unit. The figures are refreshed with each monthly data release, so a company's current price may differ from the one shown. Promotional and indicative "typical cost" figures are left out.

To compare companies by more than price, open the handyman directory, which shows each company's services, published prices, Google Maps rating and the towns it names.

Handyman rate questions

How much does a handyman charge in Singapore?

It depends on the job and how the company prices it. The table above shows the published rates handyman companies on HomezyPro list for common jobs such as locks, painting and mounting. Some companies also set a minimum charge per visit, so a single small job can cost more than its listed rate.

Is it cheaper to book several jobs at once?

Often, yes. Travel and any minimum charge are shared across the visit. Send the full list with photos so the company can quote each line and plan the right tools and parts.

Can a handyman do electrical or plumbing work?

Only within the limits of the law. Electrical installation work needs an EMA-licensed electrical worker and some plumbing work needs a PUB-licensed plumber. Ask who will carry out that part of the job.

Are these prices averages for Singapore?

No. Each figure is one company's own advertised rate with its conditions, not a market average or a quote. HomezyPro shows the published range so you can see where a quote sits, and links every figure to its source.
