Their lowest published rates run from S$50 to S$160 per unit, with S$80 in the middle. That middle figure is one company's real published rate, not an average or a typical price. Some lines, including the lowest, apply only to 2 or more units, so read each line as printed.
Read each line's wording before you compare. Some lines are "From" prices, where the printed figure is only where that company's rate starts. Others are "2+ units (price each)", a per-unit price that applies only when you book 2 or more units.

How to find your unit size
The BTU rating is printed on the label on the indoor unit and given in its manual. If neither is to hand, room size gives a rough idea.

Size matters because the directory groups rates by BTU. A 9,000 BTU price from one company and an 18,000 BTU price from another are not like for like.
Do not confuse the indoor label with the NEA Energy Label. For split and multi-split aircons, that label is fixed to the outdoor unit and shows the outdoor unit's model number. It also rates efficiency from 1 tick (Low) to 5 ticks (Excellent).
Chemical wash vs chemical overhaul
A chemical wash cleans the unit in place with chemicals, without taking the fan coil apart. A chemical overhaul goes further: the fan coil is dismantled and cleaned more thoroughly.

What changes the price
- Unit size. Companies that price by size publish a rate for each BTU band.
- Unit type. A wall-mounted unit and a ceiling cassette are different jobs, so check the rate covers your type.
- Condition. A very dirty or mouldy unit may need more work, or an overhaul.
- Number of units. Some lines are per-unit prices for 2 or more units.
- Minimum bookings. Some companies set a minimum number of units.
- Access. Mention a hard-to-reach unit when you ask for a price.

Compare aircon servicingHow often a chemical wash is needed
There is no single interval that suits every home. Watch for signs instead: weak cooling, a smell when the unit runs, or water leaking from the indoor unit.
Rule out simple causes first. Daikin Singapore's FAQs list common reasons an indoor unit is not cooling, including a dirty air filter, a blocked air inlet or outlet, the temperature set too high, open windows and doors, and the remote not in cooling mode.
Daikin says a foul smell is usually room, furniture or cigarette smells absorbed into the unit and blown back out, and advises getting a qualified serviceman to service it. It adds that skipping regular servicing reduces cooling performance and can clog the cooling coil and lead to water leakage. Water dripping from the outdoor condensing unit, though, is normal condensation and not on its own a sign that you need a wash.
Between washes, keep the air filter clean. Daikin notes that the filter indicator light is a reminder to clean the air filter, and that you reset the light afterwards with the filter button on the remote.

Does a bigger unit cost more to chemical wash?
Often at the upper end. As printed, the highest chemical wash rate is S$120 at 9,000 BTU (6 companies), S$130 at 12,000 BTU (3 companies) and S$150 at 18,000 BTU (3 companies). The cells overlap, so a bigger unit is not dearer at every company.
Should I choose a chemical wash or a chemical overhaul?
It depends on the unit's condition. A chemical wash cleans the unit in place and is usually suggested for a dirty coil or weak airflow. An overhaul dismantles the fan coil and is usually suggested for heavy dirt or mould in the blower.
How do I check my aircon's BTU?
Look at the label on the indoor unit or in its manual. As general guidance, 9,000 BTU suits small bedrooms, 12,000 BTU bigger rooms and 18,000 to 24,000 BTU living rooms. The NEA Energy Label on a split aircon sits on the outdoor unit and shows that unit's model number.
Do companies charge less per unit for several units?
Some companies publish a separate per-unit price for 2 or more units, marked "2+ units (price each)" in the directory. Compare those lines only with other multi-unit lines. Some companies also set minimum bookings, so ask how many units a printed rate assumes.
Does a chemical wash fix a leaking aircon?
It depends on the cause. Daikin says skipping servicing can clog the cooling coil and lead to leakage, and that water dripping from the outdoor condensing unit is normal condensation. Ask the company to find the cause before you book.
Can I clean the filters myself between washes?
Yes. Daikin says the filter indicator light reminds you to clean the air filter, and you reset it with the filter button on the remote. Its air purifying filter is not washable and is replaced every three months or when it turns dark.
