Troubleshooting and diagnosis fees
The per-visit lines, as printed, include:
- A diagnosis fee of S$27.25 per visit.

Why the fix is quoted after inspection
Common reasons to call are symptoms rather than known faults: water dripping from the indoor unit, a room that will not cool, a new noise, or an error code on the display. These symptoms need diagnosis first. The technician has to inspect the unit and find the cause, so the aircon repair price comes after the inspection rather than over the phone.

The directory has no published prices for PCB, fan motor, sensor or drain repairs. If the technician finds one of these faults, ask for the repair price in writing.
The only repair line is compressor replacement labour: S$600 per unit for a split unit under 3hp, parts excluded. Parts are extra and are not in that figure, so ask for the parts price and the labour price as separate lines.
Repair or replace
When a repair quote comes back high, compare it with what a new unit would cost to own. NEA's tips on buying energy-efficient appliances say to look at life cycle cost, not just purchase price: life cycle cost = purchase price + annual energy cost x lifespan in years. Appliances with more ticks on the Energy Label are generally more energy efficient.
On NEA's Energy Label, efficiency runs from 1 tick (Low) to 5 ticks (Excellent). For split and multi-split aircons, the label is affixed to the outdoor unit.
For HDB flats, HDB lists regular checks: brackets on concrete or brick walls only, not timber frames; stainless steel brackets free of corrosion and rust; no leaking; and condensate piping running into the flat to a floor trap. HDB says to check with your aircon serviceman whether a corroded or rusty unit needs replacing.
