10 companies publish a curtain cleaning line. 6 of them price it per piece, and their lowest published rates run from S$10 to S$25 per piece. There is no single middle rate: 6 is an even count and the two middle rates differ, so the table shows only the lowest and highest.
As printed, one company's day and sheer curtain washing line runs from S$10 to S$30 per piece, and another prices light day curtains under 1kg at S$10 per piece. The other per piece lines read S$13 per piece for day curtains, from S$18 per piece, S$20 per piece and from S$25 per piece.
A "from" rate is a starting point, so ask what size or fabric it covers. Also ask whether one piece means one curtain panel.
Per piece, per set or per kg
Read each rate with its unit exactly as printed. Most lines are per piece. One line is per set, and that set is 2 pieces. Three lines are printed without a unit, so the line alone does not show what the price covers.
| Unit as printed | Lines | What the lines cover |
|---|---|---|
| Per piece | 6 | Curtains in general; some name day or sheer curtains |
| Per set (2 pieces) | 1 | On-site cleaning of day curtains |
| Printed without a unit | 3 | One curtain cleaning line and two steam lines |
| Per kg | 0 | None of these lowest lines; 3 companies price night or heavier curtains per kg in other lines |
None of the 10 lines in the table is priced per kg, but the table shows each company's lowest line. 3 companies also publish per kg rates, mostly for night curtains, from S$10 per kg. One per piece line is limited to light day curtains under 1kg; heavier day curtains at that company are priced per kg. Ask each company to quote for your actual curtains in the same unit.
Take-down, rehang and on-site steam
Cleaning is only part of the job. The published lines do not say whether taking down, rehanging or transport are in the price, so ask who takes the curtains down and rehangs them, whether hooks are removed and refitted, and whether collection and delivery are included.
One company prints on-site cleaning of day curtains at S$20 to S$25 per set (2 pieces). Two other lines are for steam cleaning, and both are printed without a unit: one from S$50 that also covers mattresses and upholstery, and one from S$69. A curtain steam cleaning price printed without a unit cannot be compared directly with a per piece rate, so ask each company to quote for the same curtains, and ask whether the steaming is done at your home or elsewhere. You can compare companies listed under steam cleaning.
Blackout and sheer fabrics
The lowest lines in the table name day curtains and sheer curtains. Heavier curtains are priced in other lines: one company lists on-site cleaning of blackout curtains at S$50 per set of 2 pieces, and others price night or blackout curtains per kg. If you have blackout or lined curtains, say so when you ask for a quote, and ask whether the per piece rate covers them.
Follow the care label on each curtain, and check that the company's method matches what it allows.
No line in the published table is a dry cleaning price, so this page cannot give you a curtain dry cleaning cost. The line names say washing, cleaning or steam. If your curtains need dry cleaning, ask each company whether it offers it and how it charges. To weigh up the two methods, read our comparison of dry cleaning or washing curtains, and for upkeep between visits, see sofa and curtain care between cleans.
Curtains when you move out of a rental
The Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) publishes a tenancy agreement template for HDB flats. CEA's template has one end-of-tenancy condition on curtains: the tenant has all curtains professionally dry cleaned on vacating and supplies a receipt.
If your agreement includes a dry cleaning condition, ask the company whether its method is dry cleaning and whether it issues a receipt, in case your agreement asks for one. Add the curtains to your end-of-tenancy checklist so they are back on the rails before you hand back the keys.

Compare cleaning companiesWhat a fair quote should list
Before you book, check that the written quote lists:
- Pieces and sizes. The number of pieces and the size of each, including very wide or long panels.
- Fabric. The fabric of each curtain, including sheer, blackout or lined pieces.
- Method. Washing, steam or dry cleaning, and whether it is done at your home or elsewhere.
- Take-down and rehang. Who does it, and whether hooks and rings are included.
- Collection and return. When the curtains are collected and when they come back.
- Fabric that cannot be cleaned. What happens if a curtain is too fragile or its care label rules out the method, and whether you pay for that piece.
Ask more than one of the curtain cleaning companies for a quote and set each against the published rates on the home cleaning prices page. If two quotes use different units, ask both companies to quote per piece for the same curtains.
Questions
How much does it cost to clean one curtain panel?
6 companies publish a per piece rate, and their lowest published rates run from S$10 to S$25 per piece, with no single middle rate. Ask whether one piece means one panel, and whether the price includes taking down, rehanging and transport, because the published lines do not say.
Is curtain cleaning priced per kg?
Sometimes. Most of the lowest published lines are per piece, but 3 companies also publish per kg rates, mostly for night or heavier curtains, from S$10 per kg. Ask each company which unit applies to your curtains.
Do curtain cleaners take down and rehang curtains?
Ask each company, because the published lines do not say whether taking down and rehanging are included. Check who removes and refits the hooks, whether collection and delivery are in the price and who hangs the curtains back up. Get the answers in the written quote.
Is on-site steam cleaning cheaper than washing?
The published rate table cannot tell you. The two steam lines, from S$50 and from S$69, are printed without a unit, so they cannot be compared with per piece washing rates. The on-site line for day curtains is priced per set of 2 pieces. Ask each company to quote for the same curtains.
Do I have to dry clean curtains when I move out?
Only if your tenancy agreement says so. CEA's template for HDB flats includes a condition that the tenant has all curtains professionally dry cleaned on vacating and supplies a receipt. Agreements differ, so read your own before you book.
Does a curtain cleaning company need a National Environment Agency (NEA) licence?
Not for cleaning curtains in your home. NEA says businesses providing domestic cleaning at premises occupied as a private residence, not including condo common property, do not need to be licensed. The licence applies to non-domestic general cleaning, such as office cleaning or condo common areas.
