Nine companies publish a mattress cleaning line. The table also shows one line for laundering a mattress protector, which is not mattress cleaning, so it is not counted here. Their units are mixed, so there is no single range. Some lines name a size, some cover mattress cleaning in general, and some add sofas or other upholstery.

Here are examples as printed, each printed without a unit:

  • A single mattress at S$50.
  • "Mattress (single)" from S$80.
  • A kids or baby mattress at S$60.
  • "Mattress Cleaning" at S$40 to S$180, a range printed by one company.
  • "Mattress cleaning" from S$105.

Each figure is one company's own published rate, not an average. The table links each line to its source. For other jobs, see home cleaning prices.

If you are looking for cheap mattress cleaning in Singapore, the lowest printed figure can mislead. A line printed without a unit could be per mattress, per visit or something else, so ask the company what it covers.

Price by mattress size

Only two sizes appear in the published lines: single and kids. There is no published queen or king mattress price.

If your mattress is a queen, king or super single, ask the company for its price for that exact size. Ask whether a larger mattress is priced higher than a single.

When you compare quotes, compare the same size. A single mattress rate from one company and a general "mattress cleaning" rate from another may not describe the same job.

Methods and drying time

Common mattress cleaning methods include:

  • Vacuuming: suction to lift dust and loose debris from the surface.
  • Steam: hot vapour applied to the fabric. Read more about steam cleaning.
  • Dry treatment: a method that uses little water on the fabric.
  • Wet treatment: a method that applies a liquid to the fabric and draws it back out.

Service names vary between companies, so ask which steps a service includes. A mattress deep cleaning price may cover several steps at one company and only one at another.

Before you book, ask how much moisture the method leaves, how long the mattress takes to dry, when you can sleep on it again and whether the room must be ventilated. If the company uses a disinfectant, ask which product it is.

Dust mite and stain claims

If a company says its service removes dust mites or stains, treat that as a claim to check, not a result to expect. Ask the company:

  • What its method does about dust mites, and what it does not promise.
  • Which of your stains it expects to remove, and which may only lighten.
  • Whether old stains or liquid that has soaked in need extra treatment, and whether that costs more.
  • What happens if a stain is still visible after the visit.

Ask for the answers in writing. If a claim includes a figure, ask what that figure is based on.

Bundles with sofa and upholstery cleaning

Several published lines combine mattress cleaning with sofa or upholstery cleaning. As printed, three combined upholstery and mattress lines start from S$30, from S$50 and from S$109, each printed without a unit. Another line, "Sofa, Mattress & Upholstery Cleaning", is printed at S$100 per point.

Bundles are hard to compare for a few reasons:

  • Different contents. One bundle may cover a mattress and a sofa, another a mattress and several chairs.
  • Starting prices. A "from" figure is where the line starts, not the price for your set of items.
  • Different units. A per point price depends on what the company counts as a point, so ask.
  • No breakdown. A bundle price may not show what each item costs on its own.

Ask for each item to be priced separately as well as together. Then compare the bundle with booking sofa and carpet cleaning alone. Between visits, sofa and curtain care between cleans has ideas for simple upkeep.

What changes the price

Ask each company how these points affect your quote:

  • Mattress size. Only single and kids prices are published, so ask for your size.
  • Number of mattresses. Ask whether the price is per mattress and whether a second mattress is priced the same.
  • Stains or odours. Ask whether heavy stains, urine or odours cost extra.
  • Method. Ask whether steam, dry and wet treatments are priced differently.
  • Bundles. Ask how adding a sofa or other upholstery changes the total.
  • Minimum order. Ask whether there is a minimum charge per visit.
  • Travel. Ask whether the price includes travel to your area.

Questions

How long does a mattress take to dry after cleaning?

Drying time is not in the published rates, so ask the company before you book: how long until you can sleep on the mattress, and whether the room should be ventilated. NEA recommends ventilating your home during and after cleaning and disinfection to reduce disinfection products in the air.

Does mattress cleaning remove dust mites?

Ask the company what its method does about dust mites and what it does not promise. Treat any removal claim as something to check, and ask what the claim is based on. Get the answer in writing, in your quote or a message.

Is it cheaper to clean a mattress together with a sofa?

You can only tell by asking. Several published lines bundle mattress and upholstery cleaning, but they may cover different items and use different units, including one priced per point. Ask for each item to be priced separately and together, then compare the totals.

Can stains always be removed from a mattress?

Do not assume so. Ask the company which of your stains it expects to remove, which may only lighten, and what happens if a stain is still visible after the visit. Send clear photos before the visit so the answer is about your mattress.

How often should a mattress be cleaned?

There is no set rule. It depends on how the mattress is used, whether anyone in the home has allergies, and how often spills happen. Decide based on how your own household uses the mattress.

Can I clean a mattress myself?

You can do light care yourself, such as vacuuming. If you use a disinfectant, NEA says to follow the manufacturer's guidelines, give the stated contact time and use the protective equipment the product's Safety Data Sheet prescribes. Ventilate the room during and after. For deep stains or a full clean, ask a company for a quote.
